I just love to take pictures of myself

Just kidding. The sunset behind was pretty cool but not a great rendition from my phone's camera.

Moab

We made it

This is one of the kid's favorite spots, right across from Arches National Park.

Grandpa and grandma are here

We went to basil flats with John and Kandy tonight for dinner. They got in last night and they're staying in Denver.  John got a cowboy hat that everyone tried on.
The kids are on spring break and we're leaving for Moab tomorrow morning (with the grandparents). The kids are soo excited. They've been looking forward to this trip with almost as much anticipation as they had for the Disney cruise.
I'm reading CS Lewis's "The Weight of Glory".  I think I would get along well with Lewis.

Scripture study at our house

Our scripture study lasts about 5 minutes before Olivia breaks out her dance moves.  It's all downhill from there.

Tie-dye shirts

For Emi's birthday party, we did tie-dye shirts as an activity. They all had fun and made some cute shirts.

Superhero

There's a superhero at our house. The mask and cape give him extra strength.

Am I a hick? Probably.

We are seriously considering getting chickens after a trip to Murdocks to look at the spring chicks. They are soo cute. And so are the hen-houses I found online. Some even come with flower boxes. 3 years ago, Longmont legalized hen-possession by residents who get a permit. It makes more sense than marijuana. I think it's a great idea actually. I mean, with the way the world's going and all. If Armegeddon happens, I'd like to have some fresh eggs on hand. And while we're on the subject of Armegeddon, I really think I'd like to own a gun. I drive past the sign by the Home Depot all the time advertising gun control classes and I keep thinking I'd like to take a class. So would a couple of chickens and a gun make me a hick? Probably. I'm totally OK with that.

Ciabatta bread

The rec center pewee chef classes are all full so Evan and I are having our own cooking classes. We have been watching YouTube cooking how-to shows and we watched one on how to make ciabatta bread. So we made some today. Actually we started it yesterday because it has to raise for 18 hours. It's delicious!  Wish I could email you some;)  Our next cooking adventure: molten chocolate cake.

1st day of Spring

Today is finally the first day of Spring. My kids have been asking almost daily when Spring will be here. Well, mostly Evan and Olivia. Emi understands the calendar a little better.
We're planning a trip to Moab for Spring Break which is next week. We could use some sunshine and a break from the routine. Taylor's parents are coming to so it should be a fun time.
Olivia is loving dance. I'm just glad she found something she likes to do. She came up to me a few week ago and said, "Mom, I think I want to do ballet." So we went on a quest checking out all the ballet studios in town. She was so excited to get her ballet costume she cleared out one of her drawers which is now dedicated to all things ballet, and which cannot house any other article of clothing. Any other clothing put in that drawer promptly gets thrown out, as I have learned.
I have been thinking about a friend of ours, Justin Marcucci, who passed away last week. We knew Justin and Stephanie in Chicago. They were in our ward and we got to be friends with them. We haven't kept in touch since we moved out here 5 years ago other than facebook and I was so shocked and saddened to learn from a mutual friend of his passing. They have 3 boys and Stephanie's pregnant with their 4th. Justin passed away on Wednesday of a sudden cardiac arrest. His heart stopped and it was quick. I read this in James 4:
14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a avapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
So true. This life is so short. It's made me think about my own life.

wrist pets

We're at school waiting for the girls and I had to take a picture of Evan and his new bug bracelet.  Now Bob, Larry and whoever else he finds won't get lost.

What about Bob?

Evan was playing in the backyard today.  He came inside and said, "Mom! I have a new pet and his name is Bob."

"Oh" I said "Where is Bob?" I ask.  Evan holds out his arm.  Upon closer inspection, I see a very small ant crawling up his arm.

"So you have an ant and his name is Bob?" I ask. Evan nods.

"Well, actually, this is the second Bob.  I accidentaly squished the first Bob but I found lots of ants by the woodpile.  And I named them all Bob.  So I won't forget their names.  And if this Bob dies, I can just go get another Bob."  How convenient.

I think Bob got loose in the house somewhere because now that Evan's in bed, I do not see Bob in his "little people" house.  Oh well, I'm sure Evan will find a new "Bob" tomorrow.

Evan's tortilla

We often stop by the Tortillarilla after going to the Y to buy some of their fresh yummy tortillas. Evan took three bites of his and turned it into a mask. I took a picture.  It looks a bit "kkk"ish now that I look at it.
I swam 19 laps today.
We may finally be putting an offer on this other practice today or tomorrow. Its been a long process. A lot to consider.

Olivia is starting ballet tonight.

Thought I'd send along this picture I just took of Olivia.  She's so excited to start ballet!

FHE

We did our family night lesson on Noah's Ark tonight and how we can strengthen our family to be protected like Noah's.

Cookie dough

After searching the kitchen for the cookie dough I had just used wondering how I could have lost it, I thought to check on Evan. He was being especially quiet. Sure enough, Evan was hiding with the cookie dough happily eating away.

Evan drew this for me

We've all been sick with colds. But we're getting over them. Just coughing a lot.
Evan and I swam today. I did 16 laps.
